Our History
Frontier Power was established in 2009 to address the increasing need from investors for an independent development partner and advisor on the opportunities created by the energy transition.
The company was founded by two ex-National Grid senior executives – Humza Malik and Iain Cameron – who quickly assembled a team of experts with a track record of working together on very large transactions in the power sector. Combined, the founding team had over £30bn of investment experience covering projects both in the UK and internationally.
Since then, the company has originated, developed or acquired £5bn of assets for its investors or partners and is managing over £1bn of assets. Initially this was focused on offshore transmission networks but its pipeline of projects and opportunities has extended to a wide range of infrastructure asset classes including interconnectors and electricity storage.
Building on its experience in the UK and Europe, Frontier Power has worked successfully with investors, developers and large utility companies on a number of successful projects in North America including transactions which involved competitively procured onshore transmission networks and electricity storage.
