Mathew was formerly Head of European Business Development at National Grid plc.
He is a highly experienced executive with a successful track record over 20 years in delivering major infrastructure investments for both National Grid plc and Carillion plc
Early in his career, Mathew was a founder member of what is now Carillion’s Private Finance Unit, winning PFI/PPP bids for major UK highway and other UK infrastructure investments
Joining National Grid 1999, Mathew held senior positions including Group Head of Strategic Partnering and Head of European Business Development. He also:
Led the development to financial close of the Grain LNG import terminal Phase 1 & Phase 2 (£500m) and was a director of National Grid Grain LNG Ltd
Led to financial close the BritNed 1000MW HVDC interconnector project (linking the UK with the Netherlands) to financial close (€500m) and was a director of BritNed Development Ltd
Led other international business development opportunities including developing energy and fibre optic network opportunities in Chile, Argentina, Australia, Brazil and the Middle East
On joining Frontier Power in 2013, Mathew was the lead advisor to the ATCO consortium in Canada which went on to win the C$1.4bn, ~40 year concession for the Fort McMurray West HVAC Transmission Line.
Mathew has an MBA from Cranfield School of Management
