Frontier Power is an independent operator, asset manager, and advisory business with deep specialisation in the power sector.  Its experience includes generation, transmission and renewable manufacturing.  It was created in May 2009 by a group of senior executives with a track record of working together on very large scale transactions in the power sector and its executives have over £30bn of investment experience.

Its team has significant international business experience gained in leading UK power and infrastructure companies (including National Grid, PowerGen, National Power, Seeboard, EdF, BNFL Magnox and Arcapita Limited) and includes power sector professionals from leading international banks, fund managers and legal firms.

The management team has extensive experience in the energy sectors in the UK, USA, Latin America, India, Australia and the Far East and has developed and run large- scale businesses in the utility sector on behalf of blue-chip brands including:

Scenario, strategy and policy development:

  • Work for UK Crown Estate to formulate a 10 year strategy for the development of the £100bn+ UK offshore wind-power market, a strategy which has so far secured commitments from offshore wind farm developers for around 10GW of projects to be implemented by 2020;


Construction and operations management:

  • Directing the development and operation of,Basslink in Australia, at the time, the world's longest undersea electricity connector valued at A$1.2bn;


Management experience of overseeing and executing new business developments and major cross-border M&A transactions in North and South America, Africa, Europe and the Far East

UK and International operational management experience and value extraction through business transformation:


Strategy, commercial, supply chain, regulation and stakeholder management:

  • Directing the supply chain of a major UK utility valued at over £2bn p.a.;

  • Directing the strategy, commercial policy, regulator relationships and stakeholder management of the largest Anglo-American utility;


Advisory work in connection with raising capital and project finance for multi-billion GBP projects and deals including supporting a consortium of leading financial institutions and infrastructure funds to secure financing commitments of over £1.1bn for major offshore transmission connections since 2010.

Long term advisory work in connection with a C$1.4bn competitive transmission investment opportunity in Canada.  The lead Frontier Power advisor was embedded with the client for 18 months, providing input and expertise across all aspects of the bid and wider strategic issues for the client and its consortium partner.
