Frontier Power is directly involved in the development of two of the most promising renewable technologies: off-shore wind power and solar.
Wind
Frontier Power has been at the forefront of developing the policy framework and the offshore transmission network to support the UK’s fast-growing offshore wind industry, transmission assets estimated by the government to be worth some US $30bn over the next ten years. Frontier Power’s operational responsibility for managing these assets and negotiating the commercial terms for their operation mean that its team has very good understanding of the operational characteristics of large scale intermittent renewable generation.
Solar
Frontier Power is preparing to invest in a large new solar pv panel manufacturing plant in Gujarat, India to supply the rapidly growing Indian market and potentially export markets as well. Frontier Power’s executives have been responsible for developing, operating and financing similar plant in Malaysia and in the US and for constructing large scale CSP plant. Frontier Power is also working in India with a number of solar farm developers to help them select and install the most appropriate technologies. Such commitment means that Frontier Power is ideally placed to bring its first-hand experience to bear on all aspects of solar plant development from the evolving technologies to their commercial operation.
